Bagel Bob's to Molly's, Past Three Famous Doorways
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
New York CityTwo and a half hours, six tastings, and a route that admits what half its guests actually came for. It starts outside Bagel Bob's on University Place with a hand-rolled everything bagel and whipped cream cheese, and finishes at Molly's Cupcakes on Bleecker with a mini red velvet. In between: Mamoun's on MacDougal, frying falafel since 1971 and still the oldest Middle Eastern restaurant in the city; Bleecker Street Pizza, voted the best in New York three years running, for a Margherita slice; Little Taco House on West Fourth, a genuinely small room making tacos to order; and arancini with marinara at Faicco's, the century-old Italian salumeria on Bleecker. The arancini stop does not run on evening tours, Sunday afternoons or Mondays, and is replaced with something else on those departures. The walking covers Washington Mews, one of the few cobbled streets left in Manhattan, built as stables for the houses on Washington Square North, and the park itself, which was a public burial ground before it was a park and still holds an estimated twenty thousand graves under it. You pass the Comedy Cellar, where Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld have all worked out material. And then the doorways: 23 Cornelia Street, where Taylor Swift lived in 2016 and which she later wrote a song about; 66 Perry Street, the stoop that stood in for Carrie Bradshaw's apartment; and the corner of Bedford and Grove, the exterior of the Friends building. Up to fifteen travellers, in English, wheelchair accessible throughout. Water included and beer or wine available to buy at one stop. Not suitable for vegan or coeliac diets.
