Tra Que Herb Village, Duck Farm and a Hoi An Cooking Class
Tra Que is the vegetable-growing village outside Hoi An, and the tour starts there: through the beds, seeing what goes into the dishes before it goes into the pan. From there the route takes in the duck farms nearby, then a herbal cocktail, then the kitchen. The class is run by Tâm, a chef with a long career behind him, and the point of it is technique rather than a demonstration: you cook four Vietnamese dishes yourself and then eat them. The recipes go home with you. Four and a half hours. Morning departures leave at 8.45, afternoon at two. Pickup and drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle are included, and the entrance ticket is covered. Up to fifteen people, in English. Vegetarian menus and other dietary requirements can be arranged.
