Coffee, Comuna 13 and the Cable Car in One Day

Nine hours, and it is the only tour in the city that puts the two halves of Medellin in the same day. The coffee comes from a farm out towards Palmitas, where the host takes you through the history of Colombian coffee and how it is grown, and you taste it where it was grown rather than in a cafe. Comuna 13 is the other half, and it is not a scenic detour. This was one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in the world within living memory, and the outdoor escalators the city built up the hillside changed what was possible there. The graffiti tells the story, and the guides explain both the past and what the district is now, which is not the same thing. Then the cable car, which is public transport here rather than a ride, and the comunas from above, which is the only way to understand how the city is actually built. Typical paisa lunch, and the ice cream in Comuna 13, which everyone gets. Private transport, air-conditioned, all fees and taxes, coffee. Up to fifteen people, in English or Spanish.
