DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights Food Walk with the Bridge at the End

Three hours through the two Brooklyn neighbourhoods that photograph best, with the eating taken as seriously as the views. It starts under the marquee of the Hotel St George in Brooklyn Heights, and the first stops are the multicultural and immigrant-owned bakeries and restaurants where the neighbourhood shops rather than the ones the guidebooks send you to. Then the Time Out Market, a hall of vendors selected from among the best in the city, which is a fast way to taste several things that would otherwise take a week to reach. DUMBO comes next, under the Manhattan Bridge. The Archway plaza, with its public art and its events, and then the streets around it, which went from warehouses to galleries and food businesses inside two decades. The walk finishes up on the Brooklyn Bridge, with Manhattan on one side and the East River below, and ends at the Fulton Ferry landing.
