Eight Hanoi Dishes and They Keep Ordering Until You Stop

Six people maximum, and the operator's promise is that they keep ordering until everybody has had enough, which is a different proposition from a fixed number of tastings. Around eight dishes across three hours in the Old Quarter, at established places rather than whichever stall is nearest. Banh cuon, the steamed rice pancake. Pho, the soup itself. Bun cha. Banh mi with a beer. Rolls. And, in season, the Hanoi sea worm dish, which almost no visitor orders and which is one of the things the city is quietly proud of. The menu rotates daily and can be adjusted if you have a requirement, and there are alternatives if something does not suit. The walk passes Ta Hien, Hang Ma, Luong Ngoc Quyen and Ma May, with the guide covering how a town this old ended up eating this way, and it finishes on egg coffee from the place that first made it. Pickup from Old Quarter hotels, water, coffee and beer included, guided in English, and the route is wheelchair accessible. One thing to budget for: there is a ten dollar surcharge per person over Vietnamese New Year.
