Hanoi Cooking Class with a Traditional Tea Tasting

The same hidden garden villa as the operator's other classes, and the same air-conditioned quiet, with tea added to the end of it. The cooking comes first, hands on, and you choose the dishes rather than following a set list. The people teaching are cultural storytellers as much as cooks, so what each dish means and where it came from arrives with the recipe. The tea is the part that makes this version distinct. Vietnamese tea is not a drink so much as a social instrument: it marks arrivals, negotiations, funerals and afternoons, and the tasting covers what it does and why it is served the way it is. Everything is provided, including the brewing equipment, and the setup is deliberately plastic-free: steel containers, canvas bags. Four hours, ten people at most, in English, with a full lunch or dinner depending on the slot, a dedicated butler through the session, and free luggage storage. Part of what you pay funds community programmes. The venue is wheelchair accessible. You make your own way there: a Grab or taxi to the alley entrance at 75/173 Hoang Hoa Tham Street.
