La Casa Grande Coffee Farm Day Trip from Medellín with Lunch
La Casa Grande sits in the mountains outside Medellín, on a farm that has grown coffee since the 1800s. The house is the original nineteenth-century building, and its architecture is part of what people come for. The day follows the bean from the plant to the cup. Farmers walk you through picking, sorting, drying and roasting, and explain what each stage does to the flavor before you taste the result. They do the explaining themselves, in English or Spanish. Private transportation collects you in Laureles-Estadio and returns you to the same address, so the six hours go on the farm and the road between. Lunch is included. Bookings take up to eight travelers, which leaves room to ask questions and watch the equipment at close range. The terrain is farmland and uneven in places: the operator does not recommend the trip for travelers with spinal injuries or cardiovascular conditions, though no particular fitness level is required.
