Prosecco in a Golf Cart, Two Bars, and the Aventine at Night

Three hours in an electric cart with six seats, a driver who is also your guide, and a bottle of prosecco open from the start. You meet in front of the Palazzo Naiadi on Piazza della Repubblica, and the cart is the reason to book it: Rome's centre is too spread out to walk in an evening and too tight for a coach, and a golf cart goes down lanes a bus cannot enter. The route takes in the Colosseum lit from outside, the Circus Maximus, which held 150,000 people for chariot racing and is now a long grass hollow you can walk across, the Palatine and Aventine hills with their viewpoints, and Piazza Venezia, which is worth driving through purely for the traffic. Then the Jewish Ghetto, walled off in 1555, the Mouth of Truth, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Bernini's fountain, and the Trevi. Two bar stops break it up, with artisanal beer, wine and classic aperitivo snacks, which in Rome means whatever the bar puts out with the drink rather than a menu.
