Roasting Techniques in Jardin, and the Bar on the Square
A full day in Jardin, private, and the subject is narrower than most coffee tours: what makes a gourmet coffee gourmet. The life cycle of the bean gets covered on a farm, with an emphasis on sustainable growing, and then the roasting, which is where most of the difference between an ordinary coffee and an expensive one is actually made. Different techniques, different results, tasted side by side. Lunch is cooked from local ingredients. Then Jardin itself, which is the most traditional and the most photographed coffee town in Antioquia, and a coffee bar on the village square, which is where the day ends and where the tastings carry on. The tastings are unlimited, which at this length of day is not a small thing. Twelve hours, private, up to fifteen people, in English or Spanish, with hotel pick-up and drop-off, a fully bilingual guide and lunch. Wheelchair accessible, service animals allowed. Comfortable shoes.
