Seven Generations of Growers, at the Nearest Hacienda
Seven generations is the number, and it is the whole argument. This family has been growing coffee on this land for a very long time, and the hacienda is the closest one to Medellin. What that buys you is not a better view. It is that the person explaining the crop learned it from the person who learned it from the person before, and has no script. Five hours, and the operator's stated aim is that guests are treated as family and the farm feels like their house, which is either marketing or the truth, and five hours is long enough to find out. Bean to cup, all of it, with the enthusiasm of people who genuinely want you to understand why coffee is what it is. Refreshments during the walk, a homemade lunch, and a coffee tasting. Twelve people at most, in English or Spanish. It starts at 10 am, and the transport arrangements are given on the day.
