Athens Food Tour with Julia and Douk: 16 Tastings and Lunch

Julia, Douk and Dimitris run this one between them, and it goes where they shop rather than where the tour buses stop. It begins at a bakehouse on Athinas Street with a Greek breakfast, and works up the street towards the oldest vegetable, fish and meat market in the city, where the hosts know the traders and introduce them. Sixteen tastings along the way, all cooked fresh rather than plated in advance. There is a stop for herbs and spices where the point is to smell them and learn what goes into what, a cheese tasting, and a seated lunch and dessert at a traditional restaurant. Everything consumed on the walk is in the price, drink included. They talk while you eat, about the recipes, about where to go in Athens and on the islands, and about how the Mediterranean diet works when you actually live on it. Groups take up to ten people. The route is wheelchair accessible, surfaces included, and every dietary restriction can be accommodated.
