Athens Night Food Tour with Four-Wine Tasting and Dinner
The expensive one, and the money goes on the wine and the dinner rather than on more stops. It starts at the fountain in Syntagma and walks to Agias Irinis square for souvlaki, chosen from several meats or the vegetarian version, in warm pita. That is the street food part, and it is over quickly. The wine tasting is the middle: four indigenous Greek varieties, poured with a selection of fine cheeses, and a sommelier to explain what is in the glass. Greek wine is made from grapes grown nowhere else, and this is where that gets demonstrated rather than asserted. There is an olive oil tasting as well. Dinner is at a top-rated restaurant back towards Syntagma: appetisers, a main course of your choosing, Greek salad, and traditional spirits alongside. Gelato in a Greek flavour closes the evening on Mitropoleos. The group never exceeds eight people. Guided in English, four hours, and eighteen is the minimum age for the drinks. Vegetarian substitutions are available if requested at booking.
