Bangkok Tuk Tuk Street Food Tour with Hotel Pickup at Dusk

The tuk tuk collects you from your hotel at half past four, which removes the part of a Bangkok evening usually spent working out how to get anywhere. It begins at the Metal Castle and moves straight to Pattana Market, where locals buy their dinner rather than their souvenirs. Thai barbecue skewers, red roast pork, egg noodle wonton with fried garlic, wok-tossed chicken noodles, mango sticky rice. Then a drive through Rattanakosin, the old royal quarter, while the lights come up on the Grand Palace and the Giant Swing. No stops, just the city lit. The next stop is down an alley in a maze of small streets: wok-tossed chicken noodles cooked over a flame high enough to scorch the oil, which is what gives the dish its smoke. Michelin has it on its list. Chinatown closes the evening. Stir-fried ice cream, crisp Chinese doughnuts, herbal drinks. Then the tuk tuk takes you back to your hotel. Twelve tastings or more across four or more stops, three hours, up to eight people, guided in English. Gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan diets can mostly be handled, though you will miss a few tastings; the operator will build a private version around a stricter requirement.
