Chianti Colli Fiorentini by Bike: 24 km and a Villa Lunch
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
FlorenceTwenty-four kilometres, about two hours in the saddle, through the Chianti Colli Fiorentini, which is the part of Chianti closest to Florence and the least visited. The group is driven out of the city to the starting point, fitted with bikes and helmets, and given an orientation and a safety talk before anyone gets on. Then the ride: tree-lined avenues and winding country roads with vineyards, old castles, villas and olive groves either side, and stops for photographs where the view earns it. Lunch is at a Tuscan villa. It is light rather than heavy, which matters if you are cycling, and it comes with a tasting of the wine and the extra virgin olive oil made there. Both are for sale afterwards. Six hours door to door, up to fifteen people, in English. Bikes and helmets are included; e-bikes cost extra and need arranging in advance. You need to be able to ride a bike confidently, be reasonably fit, and be comfortable on main roads. It is not recommended in pregnancy, with a spinal injury or with cardiovascular problems. The tour ends at Piazza Piave rather than back at the office.
