Chianti on Horseback, San Gimignano and a Winery Lunch

Seven hours, eight people at most, and a horse if you want one. The ride lasts a little over an hour and needs no experience at all: the horses are chosen for it, there is an orientation first, and helmets and insurance are included. The route goes through vineyards, native woodland and olive groves on the panoramic hills, which is a different way of seeing Chianti from behind a windscreen. Coffee, drinks and a tasting of honey made on the farm come with it. If you would rather not ride, say so and the price drops by twenty euros. While the others are out, you get the farm: beekeeping and how the honey is produced, how saffron is harvested and grown, the olive oil process, and something to drink. San Gimignano follows, with a guided walk through the main squares and the viewpoints, then free time in the narrow streets and the option of the gelato shop that has won the world championship. Lunch is Tuscan and comes with a guided tasting: wine, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and more. Local products can be bought and shipped home. An air-conditioned eight-seater minivan does the driving, and the guide works in English, Italian or Spanish. Children under six can come but cannot ride. Over six can ride if they are taller than 1.10 metres. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals on request. Not recommended in pregnancy.
