Sant'Ambrogio Food Walk: Cecina, Lampredotto and Wine

Sant'Ambrogio is in the centre of Florence and almost nobody on a short trip goes there. That is the whole idea: the same distance from the Duomo as the tourist restaurants, and full of people who live here. Three hours, and the food is the food Florence actually eats. Cecina and lampredotto, two of the city's oldest specialities and two that most visitors walk straight past. Pappa al pomodoro. Cinta senese, the Tuscan pig. Wines that go with them, drunk in small wineries and restaurants rather than tasted at a counter. The guides are licensed, which in Italy means an exam rather than a badge, and the route sticks to places locals use.
