Florence

Eight hours, a minivan, and two wineries that do different jobs. The first is an organic farm in the heart of Chianti. Vineyards and cellar, the production and ageing of Chianti explained, how the extra virgin olive oil is made, then a tasting. The wine is on sale afterwards at prices the shops in Florence do not match. San Gimignano comes next, with a guided walk through the main squares and the viewpoints, then free time in the narrow streets. The stop worth making there is Dondoli, whose gelato has won the world championship, and which has a queue for a reason. The second winery is where lunch happens: a light Tuscan meal with a tasting of the wines made on the property. On the way back the minivan stops at Piazzale Michelangelo, above the city, where the copy of Michelangelo's David stands and where the whole of Renaissance Florence is laid out below. Up to fifteen people, in an air-conditioned minivan with commentary on board, guided in English, Italian or Spanish. Vegetarian menus and dietary requirements with notice. Hotel pick-up costs extra, and a private version can be arranged.
