Psirri Rooftop Cooking Class in Athens: Moussaka and Phyllo Pies

The kitchen is in Psirri, a few streets from Monastiraki, inside a boutique hotel whose roof terrace looks straight at the Acropolis. Everything is cooked downstairs and carried up, and by the time you eat, the Parthenon and the dome of Aghios Dimitrios are lit against the dark. The menu is four dishes. Moussaka, built layer by layer with a béchamel made on the spot. Spanakopita, which means opening the phyllo yourself, sheet by sheet. A milk pie to follow. And alongside them a salad in the island style, cherry tomatoes with an aged local vinegar, and tzatziki. The chef is a professional and there is a host as well, so the class runs at a working pace rather than a demonstration one. Dinner is what you cooked; drinks are not included. Classes start at four in the afternoon and take four hours. Twelve people at most, and two at minimum: below that the operator reschedules or refunds. Children under twelve cannot take part. Vegetarians are welcome; gluten-free is not possible here.
