Yassine, His Mother, and a Quiet Marrakech Neighbourhood
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
MarrakechNot the medina. This one happens in a residential neighbourhood out past Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, which is quiet, ordinary and where people who live in Marrakech actually live. Yassine runs it with his mother, and the family arrangement is the whole character of it. She cooks; he translates and keeps it moving; the atmosphere is warm and noisy and funny rather than instructional. It starts with a walk round the places they buy from, which are the neighbourhood shops rather than a souk arranged for visitors, for the vegetables and the meat. Then home, Moroccan tea, and the cooking. Four hours. Up to fifteen people, in English or French, with lunch or dinner and sparkling water. Prams are fine and infant seats are available.
