Maliwan Thai Cooking Class near Bowon Niwet, Four Places
Four people per booking is the smallest group in the city, and it changes the class completely: the instructor works with each person rather than the room. The kitchen is in Phra Nakhon, the old part of the city, opposite Bowon Niwet Temple, and the market is the local one nearby. Wear shoes you do not mind ruining, because a Thai fresh market is wet underfoot and muddy in places. The menu is chosen by the instructor before the day rather than by the guest, which is what allows the ingredients to be bought fresh. Rice, all the ingredients and the equipment are included, and there is a welcome drink at the start. Four hours in all. You leave with printed recipes and a certificate. In English, minimum age thirteen. Dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergies, need to be sent within two hours of booking, because a late change may not be possible. The class is not recommended if you have back or leg problems, and arriving an hour late counts as a no-show.
