Old Town Cooking Class at Pak Khlong Talad with Lotus Folding
The kitchen sits on the first floor above Pak Khlong Talad, the flower market, which puts it minutes from the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Chinatown, and inside one of the few markets in Bangkok that never really closes. Morning and afternoon classes go down into the market first, through the flowers and the fresh produce, and pick out the ingredients. The evening class stays upstairs and cooks. Four classic Thai dishes, step by step, in an air-conditioned kitchen, and then eaten. Between the courses there is a lesson in folding a white lotus, the sort of thing every Thai household knows how to do and nobody teaches visitors. Yours goes home with you. Three and a half hours, up to fifteen people, in Thai or English. Ingredients, a welcome drink, a locker, photographs, a certificate and the recipes are all included. No-shows are not refunded.
