On Nut Thai Cooking Class: Pick Five Dishes from Twenty

Most cooking classes in Bangkok hand you a menu. This one hands you a list of more than twenty dishes and lets you choose five, which is the difference worth paying for if there is something specific you came here to learn. It starts at a local fresh market, going through the herbs, the spices and the ingredients that have no equivalent at home. Then into an air-conditioned kitchen, professional rather than domestic, with a chef working alongside you. You cook all five yourself. Nothing is demonstrated and nothing is prepared for you, and that includes the curry paste, which is pounded from whole ingredients rather than spooned out of a jar. The result is lunch on a morning class and dinner on an afternoon one. You leave with the recipes and online access to the school's cooking videos, which is useful when the third attempt at home goes wrong. Three and a half hours, up to fifteen people, in English, two minutes from BTS On Nut. Children under nine can come but need a parent cooking with them.
